Show Services

The following show support services are available to all riders and students at FarmHill. Please remember that there is no obligation for you to use any of these services, even if you are attending a show as part of a FarmHill group.  We fully respect and support the fact that some of you may prefer the do-it-yourself approach with any or all elements of showing.   We offer these services only because we have them available at FarmHill, and we want to make every FarmHill rider’s show experience as enjoyable as possible!

Many of these show services are provided by our barn manager, Milaela Kuiper. Other show service providers are working as independent contractors, employed directly by the individuals who wish to contract for their services.  Additional services that are not listed below may also be arranged by you directly with the provider. Contact any of the listed providers directly if you are interested in obtaining a specific service for a show that you will be attending:

Introductory Preparation for Showing: 
Service provided by Mikaela

  1. Oversee/verify your show entry forms
  2. Oversee/verify your show tack
  3. Oversee/verify your show apparel
  4. Oversee/verify your show equipment

(NOTE:  For additional help with assembling your show equipment, please see the U.S. Eventing Association's Event Checklist.  It is far more comprehensive than most of us need, but it will give you a good place to start, and you can simply delete, with your trainer’s help, the equipment you don’t need.)

Tack Cleaning Service (for show-ready tack)

Show Grooming Package: 
Service provided by Mikaela

  1. Show-clipping your horse before the show (note that this does not mean a full clip, but rather whiskers, bridle path, ears, etc…to be arranged with provider)
  2. Bathing your horse before the show
  3. Basic grooming of your horse at the show (not including braiding)

Equine Treatments at the Show (wrapping, ice boots, etc):

Show Braiding Services:

  1. Placement and stripping of a full set of button or hunt braids
  2. Placement and stripping of a French braid woven with yarn
  3. Placement and stripping of a tail braid (jump shows only)

Show Hauling (round trip with load):

Show Stall Services: 
Service provided by Mikaela

  1. Tack stall included at the show
  2. Hauling hay and stall equipment (buckets and hooks) to the show
  3. Setting up your horse’s stall at the show
  4. Cleaning your horse’s stall at the show
  5. Feeding/watering your horse at the show
  6. Blanketing your horse at the show
  7. Early and late stall checks at the show

(Please note that most shows require you to buy any extra bedding you will need, and this will not be included in our fee because each horse uses a different amount of bedding, and owners tend to want different amounts of bedding for shows.)

Show Coaching Services at the Showground: 

Service provided by Suzan, Mikaela

  1. Coaching all of your warm-up rides
  2. Reading all of your dressage tests (unless your coach is coaching another rider’s warm-up, in which case a substitute reader will be found ahead of time)
  3. Debriefing with you after each of your rides

Show Acclimation for your Horse
(calming, walking, lunging, etc.):
